We are always seeking to promote reading in a fun manner not only to our pupils, but also their families. During the Autumn term we hold reading breakfasts which are very popular with families who come along and share books together before tucking into delicious bacon and sausage cobs and toast!
During the dark evenings of January and February, many families take up our invitations to join teachers and teaching assistants (in their pyjamas!) in the school hall for ‘bedtime reading’. Children return to school in their pyjamas and dressing gowns with their cuddly toys. Families share books together before tucking into sandwiches and cookies washed down with chocolate milk!
The evenings conclude with Mr. Leigh (usually in his Spongebob PJs!) reading a story to the children by lamplight. Very positive written feedback is always received from those who attend and we display this feedback in school.
