British Monarchs
To bring their topic of Monarchs to life, Year 2 worked with Tan Draig, creative practitioner, to make life-sized models of Henry VIII, Elizabeth I and Elizabeth II. The finished models were detailed and very life-like! Children worked well together to make these amazing models.
The children also made goblets, fruit, a pig’s head and candelabras which they used at their banquet attended by Henry VIII and Elizabeth I.
This work immersed the children in their topic of Monarchs and they produced some high quality writing as well as some detailed observational drawings and portraits of monarchs. Mrs Cornforth, our History leader, spoke to the children about what they had learnt at the end of the topic and children were not only very enthusiastic but could also recall many historical facts and identify and explain differences between life then and life now.
